A Kometa Championship and a Birthday Bash

Hi everyone! I know that you're all anxiously awaiting pictures from Berlin, but we've been soo busy lately that I have to do one post before that.
As some of you may know, Brno's ice hockey team, Kometa (or Comet in English), played in the Czech Republic Championship Game. It was a really awesome event here in Brno because it was the first time in 30ish (maybe more) years that they have made it to the Championship game. Because stadiums in Europe are much smaller (for the most part) than what we are used to in America, they set up projectors in the main square so that anyone could come watch the games. It was a huge event. On any given game night it was normal to find 10,000 people gathered in the square to drink and watch the game. To give you some idea of the atmosphere of the game I suggest watching this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SCnOrAsqBhM&feature=youtu.be; unfortunately, we are not in the video :( In the end Brno lost the Championship 2 games to 4, but we still managed to have a good time.

Our First Kometa Game!!

Cheering when Kometa scored! By the end of the game we had learned the majority of the cheers!

GO KOMETA!

Last week was also a week long celebration of my birthday! It was an unforgettable birthday and completely unexpected. We went into work with absolutely nothing planned, but thanks to everyone (especially event planner Eva) I had a fantastic birthday. We went to dinner at Four Roses Pub; it was perfect Czech atmosphere. Ben and I shared tatarak for dinner and there was even a jukebox that provided the perfect atmosphere for the night :)
Everyone at dinner!
